i keep trying to write a new some kind of STAR TREK post, and i keep failing. but in the meantime, shall we sail the pirate sea?
it's been hard not to obsess over the many creations of david lynch over the last couple of weeks. a friend and i watched INLAND EMPIRE for the first time the night we all found out he died, which turned out to be a surprising fucking delight?? is that lynch's only "happy" ending ever? oh wait, i still haven't seen THE STRAIGHT STORY. maybe i sensed these were the happy ending ones??
somewhere within the outpouring of thoughts and remembrances i heard about the TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME blue rose fan edit, which reincorporates a lot of THE MISSING PIECES back into the film based on the shooting script. i watched this over a few nights and it's more than just a fun curiosity -- not only is it edited very well, but i think it actually makes more sense! in the abstract, nightmare way that only FIRE WALK WITH ME only can, that is.
then i found out sheryl lee actually did an audiobook performance of jennifer lynch's THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER?
and that mark frost's beautifully detailed THE SECRET HISTORY OF TWIN PEAKS and TWIN PEAKS: THE FINAL DOSSIER also have excellent full-cast audio editions??
i'm excited to dig into these secret treasures, and i wanted to share them with you. i tagged and curated the audiobooks with some high quality art, i included the entire FIRE WALK WITH ME edit, and frak it, i threw in david lynch's autobiography ROOM TO DREAM.
presenting...
...and remember, someday, the sadness will end.
