hey. we never talk about STAR TREK anymore.
DISCOVERY ended with an exciting, vital, fresh final season that in no way felt like a final season, even with the little short film they duct-taped onto the end. DISCOVERY deserved seven seasons and a movie, put it on my tombstone.
the cancellation of DISCOVERY a couple of years ago is what made me end my paramount+ subscription and start sailing the pirate seas -- a move i'm all the prouder of considering recent news.
DISCOVERY should've ended on a batshit crazy cliffhanger. it's way more their style. must i think of everything??
LOWER DECKS ended with a final season that did feel final (see also: beautiful, hilarious) and i can't wait to see what comes next. we all know mariner & boimler & rutherford & tendi aren't done yet -- LOWER DECKS live action movie when??
speak of the devil. SECTION 31 is not the franchise-ending trainwreck the predictable (see also: white, male) fanbase is crying about. it's certainly terrible, but in a deliciously self-aware and camp way. it's purposeful fluff made for unbearably heavy times. i just really, really wish it wasn't edited by an 8-year old with ADHD.
pictured above is the some kind of STAR TREK canon, finally complete with the recent releases of DISCOVERY & LOWER DECKS. was there any way to display the canon other than proper timeline order? of course not. theoretically SECTION 31 would go before TNG and PICARD would go after the JJ movies (which themselves are obviously placed based on their relationship to the prime timeline)... but i don't feel any particular urge to add those to the canon. they'll forever be streamable/stealable if need be, along with VOYAGER and PRODIGY. (fuck you, ENTERPRISE. you piece of fucking shit.)
no, this is simply my canon. this is all the STAR TREK that holds my heart. and besides, there's no room left on the shelf.
p.s. garashir is canon!! bashir and garak forever!
p.p.s. obviously UNIFICATION is canon as fuck and if a physical version ever exists it would fit beautifully at the end of all timelines.
